The proposed extension of the Expo Line is currently undergoing the environmental planning process. A Final Environmental Impact Report (FEIR) is underway and should be completed by the end of 2009.

Final Environmental Impact Report

On April 2, 2009, the Expo Construction Authority Board of Directors directed staff to pursue the Exposition Right-of-way (ROW) and Colorado Avenue alignment for the limited purpose of identifying a preferred alternative in the Final Environmental Impact Report (FEIR). The FEIR is expected to be completed by the end of this year and presented to the Expo Board for evaluation and certification.

Media Advisory on Preferred Alternative

Staff is currently working on responses to the comments received during the public comment period on the Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR). Expo will continue to work with the cities and stakeholders during the FEIR process on issues raised in the DEIR.

Field Work Notice

On behalf of the Authority, the consultant Leighton Consulting Inc. will be conducting field investigations
within the Exposition Right-of-Way, including surface sampling and subsurface exploration drilling. Field investigations are being conducted in order to collect samples of the soil along the alignment and document subsurface conditions.

Draft Environmental Impact Report

The Exposition Construction Authority has completed the Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR) on Phase 2 of the Expo Line project.  The DEIR studies the potential impacts to the environment that may result from adoption and implementation of one of the four proposed alternatives and identifies recommended mitigation measures.
